Class of 2012: Christopher Helle

Christopher Helle
Diocese of Lafayette in Indiana
Mount St. Mary’s Seminary

From a very young age, Christopher was attracted by the life and liturgy of the Church.  However,  it was in the 4th grade while serving as an altar boy that he really felt God “tugging at his heart” inviting him to the priesthood.

Christopher remained open to God’s call throughout high school and soon turned to his pastor and vocations director for guidance.  The two priests proved to be instrumental in helping Christopher discern his vocation and ultimately enter the seminary.

Now Christopher eagerly explains that, “My time in the seminary has facilitated greater love for the Lord and His Church, joy in the mission I am called to engage, as well as certainty and most particularly gratitude for my vocation.”

Some of his classmates have participated in the Rome Experience in the past.  Christopher hopes that the program will impact him in the same way and will contribute to helping him become “a better priest for the people of God in the Diocese of Lafayette in Indiana.”
